Hi there, thank you for wondering about me… I’m wondering about you too.

I am a mom with four of my own children and two step step daughters.  I am a wife to a wonderful and supportive man and I am a photographer.

me:  happy, easygoing, lover of life and the outdoors, honest, real.

i love: my family, babies, photography, scrapbooking, chocolate, camping, home decor, being outside, jeans (with hoodies) chocolate, flip-flops, reading, good music, alone time, my house (when it is clean), great friends, singing while driving and breaking out in dance when the mood strikes.

my photography: i didn’t plan on being a photographer, in fact, I started out my career in oil and gas.  did I like it?  not so much. i made a change and i’m so happy i did.  i bought a camera, i learned to use it, i took photography at SAIT and it all blossomed from there in to a career that i take seriously, work hard at and love.  i continually upgrade my skills in both business and photography by training every year with amazing international photographers and business people.  i love to learn and it shows.

The most important thing in life to me is spending time with my family.  I finally realized that this year after being asked the question “what do you spend your money on?”.  I spend my money on holidays away with my family.  Not necessarily elaborate holidays but whole summers of camping or a week of skiing.  Why?  Because life at home is chaotic.  I want to be able to have my children around me without that chaos.  Time to enjoy the little things.  Time to notice the expressions on their faces and the way my five year old drives his hotwheels cars while making car noises that actually sound realistic.  Little things that I may not notice at home because I’m busy cooking or cleaning or getting everyone out the door for school.  I also realized that the reason I love doing newborn portraits and family portraits is because it commits families to spend time together and notice each other (and nothing else) even if just for an hour or two.  They get to have that time captured for the rest of their lives.  As they walk by the portrait in the living room or in the bedroom of that special time they will realize again what is important in life.  How lucky am I?  I get to give that gift to a family day after day after day for the rest of their life.  I know it may sound sappy… and it is but that’s okay.  It’s real.
