Do you do photography other than newborn and family?
Good question. I’m primarily a newborn and family photographer (in calgary) because those are the things I love the best. I do a couple of weddings a year as well because they are so much fun. I also go out and shoot other things to learn more and have fun and of course satisfy my need to be creativite, but I specialize in babies and families and that makes me good at it! If you are looking for food photography, or something else, please ask. I always love a challenge.
What should we expect when we hire you to be our photographer?
You should expect a custom experience that you will enjoy. Michelle Wells Photography is not a chain studio, in fact… it’s not a studio at all. All of my work is created in your space, or a space special to you which may be indoors or may be outdoors. This, by the way, makes for much more fun and personality to shine through in you and in your children and makes for a very easygoing experience. I am a full time business but I only do a couple of sessions per week so that I can give both you (and your family) and the work involved afterwards my full attention. Every session is photographed by me (Michelle). We will talk ahead of time to discuss what type of shoot you are looking for and what type of clothing to wear and we will choose a location together. I’m always open to different ideas if you have seen something you love… being creative is always awesome right? Don’t be afraid to ask.
What happens after we’ve had our photo session?
The magic doesn’t stop after your session has been completed. Each image is retouched and color corrected so that when you see it it is the best it can be. Love is given to each one. We will meet again to go over your images and at that time I will help you decide if you are looking for some beautiful artful memories for your walls or beautifully crafted albums filled with your story in images. I can even help you to measure your walls and choose the perfect sizes and images for you. I do have collections that also include the digital files and offer the digital files at an additional cost as well.

I know. I really do. It’s an investment. The question in the end is do you want your memories to be custom made especially for you by me? By the time your session is done, I know you… and I like you… and I remember you. Later, while I am crafting your images I am thinking about you. I’m proud that I spent time with you and I am committed to creating beautiful art for you, and for generations after you to enjoy too. Also know that you have chosen an experienced photographer and that each year I take courses and workshops on both photography and business by leading experts from around the world. Seriously… I take this job very seriously. Seriously.
Do you offer photography sessions anywhere other than Calgary?
Of course I shoot around Calgary as well and am always open to outdoor sessions that involve mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls (see the theme here), camping, your country home etc. This may include Canmore, Banff, Bragg Creek or elsewhere around Calgary. I also shoot regularly in Okotoks.
