a home is made of love and dreams… that is exactly what this home has been made of.  I arrived at this house on Crescent Hill and when the door opened I was amazed.  Rupi and Ravi have poured their hearts into this house to make it theirs.  It is now a full house with 2 beautiful children and a lot of love.  Rupi wanted to capture that in portraits that captured their life together in a home that has so much personality.

Winter Portrait Fun…

March 30, 2009

We have had so much snow in the past couple of weeks I decided I needed to embrace it instead of just wish it all away.  I had booked a family session for late March hoping for warmth and colorful Inglewood backgrounds but when the day broke with a ton of snow I was just a little disappointed.  Who wouldn’t be, that wasn’t the plan right?  I spoke on the phone with Natasha and we rescheduled the session.  I was just starting to cozy up for a snow day with the kids when the wind died down and I saw the beauty and freshness of the new snow…

I called Natasha back with the suggestion that we just change our way of thinking and head out to do a family photography session in the Calgary snow.  I grabbed a carrot from the fridge – hoping to have them build a huge snowman at Spruce Meadows - and headed out the door.

The snowman didn’t happen because the snow wasn’t quite sticky enough but their boys had a blast with the exception of the littlest one who seemed a little unsure of the snow and cold and of my big camera.  We had fun and the session was different so it was a breath of fresh air for me as well.  Their spring session will be done when the weather is warmer and they get back from their warm weather trip.

Just a few….

Art…

My photographer friend Chelsey Mach posted a video on her blog that the artist in your life will enjoy.  The drawings are amazing and the song is catchy.  I loved it – thanks Chelsey.

I’m hoping to figure out a way to imbed it into the blog but for now you’ll have to go directly to YouTube.

something special…

March 23, 2009

There really is something special about larger families.  I’m not just saying that because I have one either.  I love watching an older sibling help out with a younger one, or seeing two of the kids disappear together to play and know that they will watch out for each other.  Families that have a few children almost always have Dads that pitch in more than the average Dad, a gesture that creates a special bond between father and child.  Yes, Mom has more to do but the children also have more responsibilities.  Unless you have a large family or are close to one, you probably don’t see these wonderful things.  You see chaos and confusion and noise.  I’m not denying that all of those things come with the package… but with the wonderful things that happen on most days when you least expect them it more than makes up for the craziness.

Meet Melanie’s family complete with a new baby, wonderful children and a hands on husband…
