a crazy Halloween day…

October 31, 2008

I have to say – today has been a bit insane.  Pretty perfect, but insane.  The day started with getting up early because today, for the very first time, the kids were all allowed to dress up to go to school.  They were excited this morning as everyone got in to their costumes.  Of course, with 4 kids everything always takes longer than I think it should.  You would think that after so many years I would figure this out but it seems that we are always running out of time.  We are very rarely late for anything but sometimes things get a bit hairy as we try to get out the door.  “K”‘s hair took much longer to curl than I thought it would, “A” (2 years old) thought he should try out the face paint because red painted lips would look pretty cool on himself, and I had newborn portraits that I had to prepare for as well.  I finished “K”‘s hair with 30 seconds to spare before it was time for Terry to take them all to school, got “A”‘s lipstick wiped off the best I could, packed his bag to go to Grandmas house and whisked everyone out the door.

I got to my newborn portrait session 2 minutes late (after being sort of -kind of lost for a while) and after that things started to slow down.  The portrait session was a dream, I completed it, stopped for a quick lunch, picked up “A” at Grandmas, came home on time for the kids to get home from school and then prepared for Trick or Treating.  Everyone was in a great mood as we decorated and got ready.  “A” was hilarious going up to each door, yelling trick or TREAT, telling everyone he was a ladybug and then saying “thank you guy” before turning to walk down the steps.  It is so cute to watch toddlers trick or treat.  “K” was great, easy as always and the big boys went out with their friends for the very first time.  They both made out like bandits with their pillowcases half full of candy.  The next week around here should be fun with sugar highs and candy wrappers scattered all over the whole house no matter how many times I ask them all to eat it in the kitchen.  sigh.

I remember last year at this time the babies started to come out of nowhere and it seems to be happening again.  I have to say I love it and had really been missing it.  I met with this family on the week-end to take pictures of sweet Max.  He was just a perfect little guy the whole time I was there.  He gave a great mix of sleeping and interacting with his Mom and Dad which was so cute to watch.  Besides peeing on Dad’s Prada sweater everything was perfect.

more twins for Calgary…

October 22, 2008

I met with this great family last week in North Calgary.  The twins were gorgeous as was their big brother and they were all so good!  Babies that sit and don’t yet crawl away are so much fun to take pictures of.  I love the sweet smiles and cute looks they give.  I actually got one of each of these two with their tongue sticking out.  I love it.  Their 2 year old brother more than made up for their “stillness”.  He was so happy to be in the park, and as any little boy knows, parks are for running and playing.  The are really really not for standing still and having your picture taken.  I ran off with him for a minute and got him to hold onto his leaves really tight and wait for me to count to 3.  He patiently waited and then laughed and tossed them into the air.  Very quickly after that he took off to throw a few sticks into the stream.  Thank you H family for sharing the day with me.

This next one made me laugh, I couldn’t even begin to imagine how busy life with twins would be.

and again….

October 20, 2008

After the last session with this family I felt like I didn’t have the number of images that I was hoping for.  The oldest son had allergies and his eyes were itchy and watery and he was having a little bit of asthma.  It turned out that he actually came down with the chicken pox the next day!!  Poor guy.  We scheduled another shoot and the boys were just awesome.  J kept whispering in V’s ear – if we are really good I bet she will give us a treat.  It was so cute and thank goodness I did have my treats with me.Here are some of the images from the second session.
