I arrived at this session to see Brooklyn, who is now 3, looking very excited to have her photos done.  This is my third year taking pictures of Brooklyn and she was looking as cute as ever with her brown eyes and blond curls.  Her excitement didn’t last long however.  By the time we took a short walk to get where we wanted to be she decided she no longer wanted anything to do with me.  I looked around the the most gorgeous light I have ever seen and vowed to not give up.  I’m glad we continued because despite Brooklyn not wanting to be away from her Mom and not wanting to look at me or smile, her photos don’t show that.  Yes, she has stickers on her hands in most of the pictures but a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do.

This is a big sneak peek because her Mom was worried that we didn’t get any smiles or good pictures.

I’ve got a new contraption ready to go on to the top of my camera for moments like these.  I’m now officially prepared.   You only get to see it if you book a session though.

Jack

September 29, 2008

Last week I was out taking pictures of Jack and his Mom and Dad.  We had a gorgeous day and spent some time in Inglewood and then in the park near the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.  Jack was curious about everything and had a great time checking everything out.  It seems like just yesterday I was doing his newborn portraitsand now look, he’s almost ready to walk!

What a day!  The Dutch really know how to put together a wedding.  The flowers were amazing, the groom had an interesting message on the bottom of his shoes, the ceremony was perfect with many tears of joy but the reception was the highlight.  If you’ve been to a dutch wedding you’ll know what I’m talking about.  If you haven’t you might want to try to get yourself invited to one.  ha ha.   It is funnier than going to a comedy club.  They do poems and skits and games and there is more laughing and crying during these few hours than I normally see all year.

I was thrilled to be there and Jessica and Kyle as well as their families were just so sweet to us. This day was, to say the least, perfect in every way.  The rain stopped right before the ceremony began which made for the most amazing images.  The light was gorgeous and the dark skies in the background had us pretty darn excited.  The bride and groom probably thought we were insane but when they see thier images I’m sure they will understand.    Jodi Getz, the amazing main photographer had scouted out the perfect locations for the pictures and I was thrilled to be second shooting for her.

I’ll start with the more formal shots and end with the fun ones….

Hannah…

September 11, 2008

Last week my sister called me asking if I had any good pictures of Hannah from the summer.  Since I try to be unobtrusive with my camera when we are out having fun (try being the operative word) I didn’t have much.  I jumped at the chance to go out one night and take some pictures for her to use in a school project.  If you know Hannah you’ll know that she ROCKS! the school projects.  I’m not kidding.  She is the queen of 3 dimensional and scrapbooked projects, and a great painter too, oh, and just plain great all around.  Hope you like the pictures Hannah….
