Archive for July, 2008

Six weeks ago my favorite cousin Kim emailed me to let me know she was getting married and asked if I would be available to do their photographs. She said the wedding would be in July or August and I immediately thought 2009. Nope, 2008. When you have found the perfect person for you and you know that you want to spend your lives together forever why wait? This absolutely perfect wedding took place in White Rock BC on the week-end. Mike lives in White Rock and it is obvious that he loves his paradise and is proud of where he lives. It was the perfect location for them and with a very short time to plan the wedding they did such an amazing job. I’m not kidding, every single thing about this wedding was perfection. It was small, with friends and family that quite obviously care for Kim and Mike a lot (and know how to have a good time). They are 2 pretty wonderful people and created an atmosphere that was relaxed and fun. Everyone had a great time. and it was neat to see all of the kids having such a great time in the bouncy house, dancing and doing crafts.   Thank you for bringing us out and have a great honeymoon!

It’s tough being 2…

July 16, 2008

I can’t believe my youngest little guy is now 2. Where does the time go, seriously. I thought I would have a baby forever and now I don’t. Just like that. Done. :( Our little Monkey is a seriously fun little guy, he thinks he’s hilarious and makes us laugh all the time. These pictures were taken a few days after he turned two. He is sitting in the garage on his little electric go-cart and loving every minute. For those of you who are interested, garages make perfect places for portraits. I know, it seems strange but the light coming in that gigantic door is pretty perfect. If you are looking to take some great shots of your children put them in the garage with the door open and position them facing the door but just out of the sun that may be shining in (depending on which way your door is facing). Voila, a great shot even if the only thing you know about your camera is that you have to push the button to take the picture. It would be helpful to shut the flash off too though.

See, being 2 is a pretty tough job… playing all day makes a little guy pretty tired.

It’s been a busy summer. I can’t believe how quickly it’s passing. Between work and the kids I’ve been keeping super busy which makes our upcoming holiday that much more wonderful. I’m leaving on Saturday to shoot a wedding in White Rock, BC. I’m back on Monday but leave on Tuesday for my annual camping holiday with the kids and my sisters. We are going to the Shuswap and the Okanagan and will be enjoying the summer with no work, no video games or tv, and no computer. Back to the basics I guess, which is a little scary actually. We did buy a boat this year though so it’s not entirely primitive. ;) Here are a few pics to leave you with and I’m hoping to post a couple of more times before we take off.

Riley and Evan love to wrestle, this may look dangerous but they were actually having a riot and I’ve finally figured out when to intervene

before one of them does actually get mad and lose their patience.  It’s only taken me 10 years, but I can stop it almost every time.  :)

Calgary Baby Planners…

July 16, 2008

I had the privilege of spending some time with Megan last week. Megan and her partner Simone have opened a much needed business in Calgary called ‘Calgary Baby Planners’. I remember trying to decide what I needed to buy when I had my first child. Choosing products for a baby is a very overwhelming experience. It seems like there are a zillion different products out there so how do we choose? Well…. I spent a lot of time researching and hoped for the best when I paid and brought the product home or tried out the service. You, however, can call Megan and Simone and they can give you guidance because they have done the hard work for you! WOO hoo!

Her son was super cute as we trekked through the long grass and explored a little while taking pictures along the way. The wind was blowing like crazy and it was pretty brisk for a summer morning but he was an inquisitive little guy and didn’t even seem to notice. Thanks Megan for a great morning and here is your sneak peek!
