I am so excited to share this session. I photographed a wedding this past Saturday with my wonderful friend Jodi, owner of Jodi Getz Photography in Lacombe Alberta. Although Devon and Rosanne were really hoping for a winter wedding, they only got the cold and didn’t have the snow that they were hoping for. They were troopers even though they were frozen as we ventured outside to capture some wonderful moments and images in a wide variety of locations. They have soooo many fabulous images to choose from! Here are a few from after the wedding…

and of course we can’t forget the reception. What fun! Apparently Dutch receptions are known for their antics and fun and this one truly didn’t disappoint. At one point I had tears running down my cheeks because I was laughing so hard and I couldn’t see to take pictures. They also did an amazing job at decorating with their winter theme. They brought in trees and all. The tree branches had sparkling snowflakes hanging from the branches and added a little bit of magic to the night. Thank you for the fun and the wonderful opportunity to work with you Devon and Rosanne.

Ok, I was watching tv this morning, I had to take a break from work to fold some laundry. All of my kids were mad at me yesterday morning because they didn’t have ANY of their favorite outfits to wear. Thank goodness today was pajama day at school! We went out last night and bought sweet new pajamas and slippers for everyone to wear and I quickly washed them up last night. Oh, wait, now I’ve gotten sidetracked…

Back on topic now. I was watching tv this morning and saw a commercial for worldvision, it really touched me. If you would like to make a difference, make your gift receiver proud or just plain ol’ want to get your Christmas shopping done the easy way (while making a difference) check out World Vision and click on catalogue.  Did you know that you can actually buy a GOAT from worldvision? They will give it to someone that will use it to have fresh milk every day. Or a CHICKEN? It can lay 42 dozen eggs every year to help feed someone that would otherwise go without. How about a COW?

You can spend anywhere from $30.00 for 3 blankets to thousands of dollars that will build a home. So, the best part… you are giving to someone that really needs it, and you are also giving to someone on your Christmas list that, lets face it, probably really doesn’t need anything. Imagine their surprise when they open a card and see what gift they have given to a community in need. Check out the catalogue, from antibiotics, to blankets, to rabbits or an alpaca. There are learning materials or heck, even an ox and plough, a steal at only $475.00! So go now to World Vision and buy a gift that will make a huge difference.

a busy season

November 13, 2007

For those of you waiting patiently to see your pictures (or in some cases impatiently, but I don’t blame you one bit, it’s so exciting), please know that I’m working hard to get them to you.  Fall is always super busy as I try to fit everyone in for the Christmas portraits.  I am actually working 7 days a week and slowly wading through.  I am fully booked and will not be able to offer any more sessions until January.  If you are interested in a January session we are working on securing some Studio space outside the home and things look like they might be falling into place.  I’m so scared excited, but that’s another story.  Give me a call soon to secure your January spot, the first 5 bookings will recieve a special gift!  YAY, Christmas in January just when you thought the gifts were over.

outdoor headshots

November 13, 2007

I was so happy when Sylvia, from Sort it Out in Calgary, said yes when I suggested outdoor headshots. There is nothing better than using natural light to bring out the best features and colors. :) It also somehow seems a little bit less intimidating to be posing in the great outdoors instead of in studio and as a result I get more natural expressions from the person that I am photographing. I loved the results we got with these and her red hair is just gorgeous, especially in the sun. Thank you Sylvia, and thank you for allowing me to share here as well.

And of course I had to throw one in from when her daughter snuck in for a quick picture which I was more than happy to capture since she is such a cutie and was being such a good girl while she waited for us.
