Little girls

October 25, 2007

Little girls are so much fun. One minute sitting beside each other looking sweet, the next minute off and running on a new adventure. One minute playing together in the leaves and the next minute staking the pile as your own and pushing the other out of the way. So many emotions, so little time. :) These two are cuties and fun and we got some great pictures.

And finally something a little different. The sun came out as our session was ending and I took advantage of it and got this shot. Not your everyday portrait but fun in it’s own way. I think Brett was a little stressed that he was going to miss the hockey game when i suggested we try these ones out. (hope you made it on time).

childbirth photography…

October 20, 2007

Earlier this week I went up to Edmonton to welcome my sisters new daughter into the world. There are no words to describe the feeling of watching my beautiful sister scoop her precious little girl from the water and hug her close to her body. This little sweetie was born just after midnight and the next morning she was pleasantly surprised by the arrival of her 3 brothers and sister. What a lucky baby. Jocelyn was just adorable as her siblings came in and was as quiet as a little mouse as her 4 year old brother counted all of her fingers and toes, her littlest brother covered her in kisses and her bigger brother snuggled her in his arms. Her big sister was so happy to have a little sister and was so sweet to watch as Jocelyn looked up at her in wonder. I’m sure there will be many more of those moments where Jocelyn will be looking up to her big sister.

I took so many pictures of the birth and came back the next day to capture some of the ones that are show below.

This birth marks the 12th birth that I have been a part of. Childbirth Photography is quite honestly the best part of my job. The birth of a baby is such a special day, and a day that is filled with so many emotions. It is often difficult to remember the story of the event. I am lucky enough to be able to document this day in a way that each picture plays a part in telling the complete story of your day so that not even the smallest moments are forgotten. Each birth is no less remarkable than the last and although I am giving the gift of telling your story, I always feel like I have been given a gift in return.

sweet baby Aisha

October 20, 2007

I had the wonderful opportunity today to photograph Aisha, the baby of Jen and Gabe of Perspectiveye. Aisha is only 11 days old and was super, we didn’t hear even a peep out of her for the whole session. Gabe and Jen tell me she sleeps all the time but I didn’t see a whole lot of that going on so I’m not so sure I believe that. Aisha is a pretty lucky little girl to have Gabe and Jen for her parents, she is quite obviously cherished.

I am lucky enough to work for Gabe as his assistant/second shooter for his wedding photography so I get to learn from the best, and even luckier because he photographed my big family a couple of weeks ago and the pictures were so amazing they made me cry (more than once). You can see some of the pictures on the Perspectiveye blog. Thanks Gabe and Jen.

sweet angels…

October 14, 2007

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph these sweet angels before and it was nice to see them again. I’m always excited when I see people show up in the perfect outfits and these knit dresses were definately it. The were perfect for the angel pictures as well! Mom loves the girls looking “girly” so I hope I captured some of that for her. Enjoy the sneak.

I’m thinking these next 2 weeks may be pretty much it for the gorgeous fall colors and leaves on the trees and shrubs. Each day I go out there are less and less leaves on the trees and it looks like winter is looming (sorry to say). So get out and enjoy the sunshine everyone.
