“that’s how I found him” | Calgary Baby Photographs
July 10, 2009Half way through this session this tiny little boy started to cry, I of course apologized because I really really don’t like it when babies cry. His Mom said “don’t worry about it, that’s the way I found him”, meaning he made his entrance in to the world naked and crying. I think it is one of my favorite lines now. If you know me, you know I have THE worst memory ever so for me to remember that it must have meant something.
Anyway – this little sweetie was under 6 pounds and just 5 days old when I met him. This is the perfect age for a newborn session and I LOVE when Mom’s call before their baby is born so we can get these sweet images before baby gets to be 10 days old and decides that being awake and maybe a little bit grumpy is more fun than sleeping the day away. So cute and sleepy and perfect in every way.

cover of birthing magazine…
June 14, 2009Woohoo – check this out. One of my images will be on the next cover of Birthing Magazine. I’m honoured that they have chosen one of my images for the cover. I have always loved reading it. I’ve always loved anything to do with birth and the magazine has so much information. I think it is one of the reasons that I started doing Birth Photography as well. Thank you to beautiful Melanie who gave me permission to use her image.
There is also a feature story inside called “Standing your Ground” which has one of my images taking up half the page. Super exciting for me. Thank you to Lyda and her family for the awesome shot of Jack.
Birthing Magazine can be found in many health care offices if you are looking for it. I also have a box delivered to me if you are looking for an issue.

Emily and Chad {Calgary newborn photography}
January 1, 2009Happy New Year everyone! It’s right back at work for me. I enjoyed some time off (mostly) for Christmas and had some wonderful days with my family skating, sleighriding and playing a million games with my sisters, nieces and nephews. We had a great holiday and now… back to photographing. Though I love having time off – I do miss taking pictures so I’m happy to be back in the groove. It is that time of year again when Calgary experiences a baby boom so with lots of newborns coming I’m excited to be moving into the baby season. If you are having a baby soon and want newborn pictures be sure to call before your baby is born to reserve a space!
I spent the morning today with a little sweetie that was almost a Christmas baby but instead will celebrate her Birthday every year on boxing day. Emily and Chad were wonderful and Sophie was pretty much the perfect little model. Their house was ideal for photographs with wonderful colors and great light. Chad and Emily are gorgeous (sorry guys, just had to throw that in) but didn’t want many photos of themselves so I snuck some in when I thought they weren’t looking and I love them. Hopefully they will too.
Here is a big sneak peek for you just because I couldn’t resist, I’m still in the giving mood.
